Why the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Specialty Course? |
The primary reason to dive using Enriched Air is to extend your No Decompression dive limit (NDL), sometimes quite dramatically, giving you longer dives than would be possible on standard compressed air. As an example, a dive to 80ft/25M on air has an NDL of just 30 minutes. The same dive made using EAN36 has an NDL of 55 minutes, which is a whopping 25 minutes (83%) extra dive time!. Some divers also say that they feel less tired after making a series of dives when they use Nitrox. What do I need to start? All you need is your open water diver certification. (You must be 15 years of age or older). What will I do?You will learn the preparation and diving procedures involved with enriched air diving. The course is short and includes an option to make two Enriched Air Dives. For those interested in taking their Enriched Air Diving one stage further, we also offer the DSAT Gas Blender Course which will teach you to blend your own Enriched Air Nitrox. Where can I go from here? You can apply this Specialty course towards your Master Scuba Diver certification. You also need the PADI Enriched Diver certification if you intend to move into technical diving. For information on pricing, please visit our Price List page. |
